AFK Arena review

Time to get addicted to a new mobile game!

AFK Arena review

Introduction

Today we are going to look at another game that you can play while AFK, it is in the off course, AFK Arena! Yep, you guessed it, you will get rewards for not logging in but after twelve or so hours, your loot cache will be full! Which means that you need to log in regularly, there are also events and dailies to complete. It is your job to make a strong team that can fight the battles, you are also going to need a lot of luck. This review will not have a story since it is quite convoluted and not important at all.

What did I think before playing AFK Arena?

I was browsing the App Store for some fun game to review. Then my eye fell on this game, it seemed to have a lot of different characters, many chapters and off course the idle element. Which is something I enjoy a lot in games, collecting the loot while not doing anything. Who would not love that? I did not know what else to expect from this game, thus I went to check the Google Play Store.

The Google Play Store

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lilithgame.hgame.gp&hl=en&gl=US
There seem to be over 100 heroes that you can collect, whom are spread over seven different factions. That is going to take some time, but which one will you level up? You do need some strategy to overcome hard battles, and it is not going to work if you put in five tank characters, or you might, who knows, you can try if you want. And off course, the most important part is the fact that you will gain rewards while logged off!

Rating

I rate AFK arena with an 8.0 before playing.
It seems like a fun game is in store for us!

Gameplay

The gameplay of AFK Arena is pretty straightforward, but there is a lot to do. Foremost, get rid of your common characters as soon as possible. Then do not use the characters that can only ascend to legendary. These are just fodder and food for the real heroes. The ones that can become ascended characters. These are the guys you want in your team as soon as possible. You are going to need a lot of copies to upgrade them tough. If you get a few decent ones, they can carry you the first few chapters with ease.

There are many strategies, builds, character combinations. I recommend you check out some guides before you start working on characters, luckily resetting a character is easy, and you will get back your resources. However, getting back used fodder is hard. There is also a tower to climb with a lot of good rewards, and you will unlock the labyrinth with even more rewards. There are some world map puzzles where you battle and get more rewards. The farther you get into the game, the more walls you will encounter, but the rewards will also be greater.

There is a lot to do in this game, but it all revolves on starting to build an amazing team of five characters that are synchronized well with each other. If you get Daimon in the beginning, I advise you to use this character, since he can carry you a long way. You will also get equipment, you will need to enhance them but safe that for legendary and mythic gear. There is a lot to this game, and it is impossible to put it all in this review, beasts to gather, PVP battles, tournaments, events, building an inn, and a lot more!

Rating

I rate the gameplay of AFK Arena with a 9.4
There is so much to enjoy in this game, I have put many hours in this game, there are no ads, a lot of free diamonds to summon new characters, and a lot of accessible features. There are off course things you can pay for, but this game is very accessible for f2p players

Sound and Graphics

Graphics

The graphics of AFK Arena are very good, there are many different places, battlefields, characters with whole portraits and even lore. It is quite insane for how much there is to do in a mobile game. The battles also look very good, if they go 4 times as fast, it might be hard to see what is going on.

Sound

The soundtracks are fun to listen to, and there is a lot of diversity. A lot of the characters have their own voice, which is quite awesome for a mobile game.

Rating

I rate the sound and graphics of AFK Arena with an 8.1.
There are indeed a lot of characters, and new ones get added very fast with new updates.

What did I think after playing AFK Arena?

I even made several accounts to try and see how far I can come with making different decisions in the game. The second time around it goes much smoother, knowing which characters are good from the beginning, and what characters to ignore. You can also experience a mentor system with tasks that will reward you. And, you can borrow one character from your mentor, whom can kick the utter crap out of the wall you are facing, this can be done once a week.

The PVP section of this game seems to be fair, there are also some PVP events that streamline all the teams to make sure it is a fair match. Then it all comes down to the synergy between the characters, and your formation. You might not think about it, but the formation your characters stand in is very important. One could get you defeated in seconds, another formation might give you the win!

Rating

I rate AFK Arena with an 8.5 after playing.
There is a lot to do in this game, and it is very user-friendly!

What are my personal thoughts about AFK Arena?

I easily put over 100 hours into this game and I enjoyed it a lot. There were just many other games I wanted to play, which is the main reason I quit this game. Not enough time to keep up with the dailies.

Rating

My personal Rating of AFK Arena is an 8.2.
