Crumble review

Crumble with me!

Crumble review

Introduction

Today we are going to look at a dynamic 3D platformer that puts you inside a blue slime that will launch itself across many areas while using a tongue to latch onto objects as you go through levels faster than Sonic can ever run. As you progress through the game, the world will keep on crumbling more as the difficulty increases! There will not be a story section, you are a blue ball, and you go through levels, thats it, not more!

What did I think before playing Crumble?

This is a just a game that seemed to be very unknown, as it is even hard to find a header for this game. If you type crumbly in Google, I promise you, it is not this game that you will find! It seemed like a very weird game that reminded me of Verlet Swing, a game that makes no sense, and you will be banging your head agaisnt the wall, wondering why you cannot complete a level. For more information we went to the Steam page!

The Steam Page

Calling the game a campaign seems a bit far-fetched as there is no story whatsoever, there is just, a slime jumping through levels that crumble. Maybe someone chewed up too much chips, who knows. Latch onto different objects as you rush through the levels while trying to unlock skins. Dont try to crumble on me!

Rating

I rate Crumble with a 6.3 before playing.
It seemed like a mediocre 3D dynamic platformer game.

Gameplay

It is your goal to rush through the levels, if possible, as fast as possible to gain stars. Or you could just go through the levels at your leisurely tempo and enjoy the view. There are multiple checkpoints in the levels that will help you get to the end. Can you stick your tongue to the most weird objects?

If you love 3D platformer with precision and calculation, then this is not a gmae for you as the slime will fly everywhere, the controls are a bit janky and you do need a controller. Even with a controller it is going to be hard since your momentum can stop out of nowhere, or you might even get a huge burst of speed out of nowhere. There should be a better balance into this, but if you do it right, you can go Sanic fast!

One of the biggest problems is that it is hard to see where your tongue will land, as there is no way to see where you are throwing your tongue. It could land on a tree, or even a rock, or a sling, who knows! Aiming is barely impossible, just throw that tongue and latch onto the first thing that is in sight!

Rating

I rate the gameplay of Crumble with a 5.5.
I think your tongue is crumbling too!

Sound and Graphics

Graphics

The graphics of Crumble are crumbling, everything floats in the air and is broken, the graphics are quite basic. It is nothing unique or special. You just go through the level and thats it.

Sound

The sound in Crumble did not move at all, I barely noticed it is there. I was too busy with getting my tongue to latch onto the right object.

Rating

I rate the sound and graphics of Crumble with a 5.3.
A lot of more work could have been put into the graphics and soundtracks.

What did I think after playing Crumble?

While this game is crumbling as I am typing, I did have some fun while playing, mostly by just messing around instead of actually playing the game. Since messing around in games is always fun! The insane bursts of speed made no sense at all, luckily I got an amazing screenshot of it!

The levels start out easy but as you get further into the game, it starts getting quite ridiculous as you start banging your head against the table while trying to figure out how to complete the level with the janky controls and the weird tongue latch mechanic!

Rating

I rate Crumble with a 5.7 after playing.
This game crumbled in the rankings!

What are my personal thoughts about Crumble?

I just messed around but I was glad when I was done with this game!

Rating

My personal Rating of Crumble has crumbled to a 2.3.
The campaign, along with no story made this game a big flop for me.

  4. It's funny that even the final verdict for this game is a cumbling 2.3 stars, and that the rest of the scores fell throughout! Still, I wouldn't mind getting this sort of game in a bundle just to try it out, as the mechanic is an interesting idea that could've had potential and I'm always a sucker for simple blob creatures.

  13. Poor controls are not exactly the best thing for a 3D platfomer, but hopefully they can be patched.
