Halo Spartan Strike review

Introduction

Today we are going to visit Halo once more, we are not done yet! This time we are going to look at Halo Spartan Strike, this is the sequel to Halo Spartan Assault. Since this game is not available on Xbox, we played this game on the computer! This time around, we did not use the controller. Is this time better compared to Halo Spartan Assault, this is what we are going to find out!

What did I think before playing Halo Spartan Strike?

My wife and I did enjoy the previous game, thus we were very keen to see how the next installment would perform! My hopes were for more enemy variety, as there are a lot more enemies next to the Covenant! I did learn that you will be taking the role of a generic Spartan rather than a known named Spartan, for more information we headed to the Steam page!

The Steam page

The first things that pops out is that you will indeed face another enemy faction, the Prometheans make a return, this also means that there will be some new abilities, weapons and vehicles! I hope that they remove the heat up mechanic that plagued the turrets!

Rating

I rate Halo Spartan Strike with a 7.1 before playing.
My wife and I were more excited to play this game compared to the previous installment!

Story

The story of Halo Spartan Strike is focused on a special artifact called the Conduit, the events take place in separate stories of the main Halo franchise! It is your job as a Spartan to safeguard this artifact and keep it out of enemy hands!

Rating

I rate the story of Halo Spartan Strike with a 6.4
While the story is better, you are still just a generic Spartan in this story. If you unlock the secret chapter, you will take on the role of another generic Spartan.

Gameplay

The gameplay follows the top-down shooter of Halo Spartan Assault, you will take on new missions where you will need to perform well to earn the gold medal. You take on the role of an unnamed Spartan, you will need to use different weapons and methods to kill enemies, to gain points. These are needed for experience points, with these you will be able to buy new weapons but for only one missions.

There are a lot of improvements added in this game along with vehicles! Mostly, the vehicle controls work better this time around, luckily the controls work better too! The new Kestrel is like a human ghost! The turrets work much better this time around as there is no heat mechanic anymore, thus you can earn a lot of points with the turrets!

This time around, it is easier to get gold stars, which is needed to unlock the final chapter where you take on the role of yet another nameless Spartan. This chapter shows the scenes of a Spartan paving the way for the main protagonist! It is a lot better compared to the previous game extra chapter!

Rating

I rate the gameplay of Halo Spartan Strike with a 7.4
While the controller is not supported, the keyboard and mouse does work wonders though with aiming!

Sound and Graphics

Graphics

The graphics of Halo Spartan Strike are better compared to the previous game, the Prometheans making a comeback was great! Sadly, there were no Flood in this game. There are a lot of different biomes that you will visit while trying to get a hold of the Conduit!

Sound

The music in Halo Spartan Strike is great, it is Halo after all! The improved graphics with great soundtrack make it seem like a real game despite it being an IOS mobile port.

Rating

I rate the sound and graphics of Halo Spartan Strike with an 8.3.
The upgraded graphics are great,  the comeback of the Prometheans are amazing!

What did I think after playing Halo Spartan Strike?

My wife and I did enjoy the previous game, we were very excited to see if this game would be better. To our satisfaction, we enjoyed the game a lot more! We did have issues with the controller, thus, we used the keyboard and mouse! Which actually worked great for us!

It was much more satisfying to play the final chapter if you actually need to unlock it, is also easier to get gold stars and score boosters were not really needed. There were a select few missions that were hard to complete, but most of them were just the right difficulty!

Rating

I rate Halo Spartan Strike with a 7.2 after playing.
If you did like the previous game, this one is even better!

What are my personal thoughts about Halo Spartan Strike?

While this game is short, it was a lot more fun compared to Halo Spartan Assault! Time to shoot up some mechanical warriors!

Rating

My personal Rating of Halo Spartan Strike is a 7.8!
This game is a huge improvement with great upgrades compared to the previous game!

  3. 10th Halo review, gratz! looks rather cheap, more like a colorful Alien Shooter game, but that's the way mobile ports are...

  4. I'm glad this game was at least better than the previous Halo mobile title/port, though it still seems to suffer from some of the limitations of mobile ports at the end of the day. Speaking of mobiles and ports, have you ever thought about reviewing mobile only games or reviewing different ports of games and comparing them to one another? That may be of interest to some people that frequent your site.
