Pikmin 2 remastered review

Introduction

Today, we venture into the captivating world of Pikmin 2, a game that follows up on the success of its predecessor. This time, we’ll explore the remastered version available on the Nintendo Switch. Does Pikmin 2 continue the legacy of its predecessor, offering new thrills and challenges? How does this remastered edition hold up in comparison to the original GameCube version?

What did I think before playing Pikmin 2 remastered?

Approaching the remastered version, I anticipated an evolution from the original Pikmin 2. I expected enhanced graphics, potentially refined gameplay mechanics, and, like Pikmin 1, no additional content. Having previously experienced the GameCube version, I was curious to see the improvements and alterations in this updated release.

The Nintendo Store Page

The Nintendo Switch page provides a glimpse into the game’s premise, this time, focusing on treasure hunting in underground caverns. The stakes are high as Captain Olimar and his companion Louie embark on a quest to retrieve treasures and pay off a substantial debt. Alongside new challenges in subterranean depths, sets the stage for an engaging adventure.

Rating

I rated Pikmin 2 Remastered with an 8.7 before playing.
For those enjoying the Pikmin series, Pikmin 2’s remaster might just be the next thrilling game for you!

Gameplay

Pikmin 2’s gameplay evolves from its predecessor by introducing underground exploration and the strategic retrieval of treasures. You have to navigate through various underground areas, utilizing different types of Pikmin to solve puzzles. Can you solve all these strange puzzles that you need two captains for?

Battle enemies, and collect valuable items. The cooperative mechanics between Olimar and Louie offer a refreshing dynamic to gameplay, while managing resources and directing Pikmin becomes increasingly challenging.

Similar to the first installment, Pikmin 2 demands astute planning and strategic execution. Failing to strategize might result in Pikmin deaths, compelling players to maintain a careful balance between risk and reward in their treasure-hunting endeavors. Take too much risk, and you might lose almost all of your Pikmin, luckily there is no time limit in this game and enemies have less health.
