Runescape 3 review

Will you lose all your time to this game?

Runescape 3 review

Introduction

Today we will be looking at an MMORPG, Runescape 3! It is time to kill and skill your way to success as you clear many quests lines! That is if you have the patience to clear over 300 quests! There are a lot of skills that you can train, the most important one is off course combat! As you will be killing many enemies for a lot of reasons, for example for training slayer! There is a story, but I will not go into that in this review, nor will I cover all skills but merely the basics of Runescape 3!

What did I think before playing Runescape 3?

I did play Runescape a long time ago! Back when reaching level 99 in skills was as good as impossible! No useful interfaces, no huge exp bonuses or events that grant double experience! Runes were hard to get by, even your spells could fail! While many new skills were also not introduced as rune crafting, summoning, divination or even archeology! To gather more information on Runescape 3, we went to the main page, please note that for all functions you need to pay a monthly subscription!

The Runescape Page!

There is a lot of information on this site, the latest news for example! But if you are new, you might want to check the skill list! There is even a  beginners guide to get you started on Runescape 3 but being a member is almost needed to enjoy this game to the fullest, thus we bought a membership! You can also earn bonds in the game to get membership without paying real money! There are still some bugs that might need to be fixed, though!

Rating

I rate Runescape 3 with an 8,6 before playing.
While it seems like a bunch of fun, you do need a subscription to really enjoy the game!

Gameplay

The gameplay in Runescape 3 is very versatile and diverse, there are many activities to undertake! To start, you might need some cash, as the prices in Runescape 3 are heavily inflated! One bond for 14 days of membership will easily cost 50 million gold! However, to get started, you should start killing chickens for money if you are going to start with combat! Killing chickens for a few hours could net you a million or two!

You could also go skilling and cut logs to sell, or train your firemaking! Making bars with mining and smithing is also a good way, but there is so much more to do! You can play a lot of mini-games, start farming or even do some low tier quests! You will also have daily challenges to complete that will grant you keys to open treasure chests every day!

A lot of the unlockables are unlocked by completing quests, and some of them have very high requirements! Thus, a lot of training is needed! You will notice that a lot of time investment in Runescape 3 will not have huge impacts, but you will easily need to devout hours every day to get somewhere in the game!

Rating

I rate the gameplay of Runescape 3 with a 7.6
While there is a lot to do in Runescape 3, it can get monotone very quickly, farming for gold gets old, prices for some items are insane!

Sound and Graphics

Graphics

The graphics in Runescape 3 are very divided in quests, but the general graphics are quite good! There are however some issues with collision detection! There is a lot of variety in enemies though, some of them are hidden behind quests, or you might need to start dungeoneering!

Sound

There are so many soundtracks and sound effects in Runescape 3, it is epic how much they added over the years! However, most likely you will be skilling for hours upon hours, and you will have muted the Runescape game while listening to your own music or watching a television series!

Rating

I rate the sound and graphics of Runescape 3 with a 6.8
There are a lot of things that can be updated, including older quests! Strangely enough, some quests have voice acting while others do not.

What did I think after playing Runescape 3?

Runescape 3 has a lot to offer you, but it will also drain all of your time. If you do not like grinding, this is not a game for you, however if you are interested in MMORPGs, Runescape 3 is a game that has withstood the test of time, for the most part! There have been a lot of updates, including a major combat overhaul, but you can choose which combat mode you are going to use. Whatever mode you are going for, you will need some hefty protection with armor that will cost you a fortune!

If you use the new combat mode, you will have the ability to use skills to fight your enemies! All the combat styles have different skills. You can enhance these styles with prayer if you have trained that skill! You might need a lot of money to get the gear that you will need to fight in elite dungeons or hard bosses! Bossing is one of the main ways to make money, if you can kill them swiftly!

Rating

I rate Runescape 3 with an 8.2 after playing
If you are going to start this game, you will not have a lot of time anymore on your hand as you will be playing a lot of the time!

What are my personal thoughts about Runescape 3?

My wife and I had a lot of fun when playing Runescape 3, but a lot of our time got consumed by this game. When we were finally done since we had enough for the time being, we noticed that we suddenly had a lot of free time! We might review a private server of Runescape in the future, since that would remove a lot of the grinding from the game!

Rating

My personal Rating of Runescape is a 7.7
Time drainer game confirmed!

  4. Thank you for the review. Although the Runescape series are classic MMORPGs, the massive grinding and gold/real money required to enjoy the game puts me off of it, so thank you for taking note of that in your review.

    • I heard the prices for the membership will be going up even more! This also increases the grind level to get free membership, since those items will get a lot more expensive!

  9. Although MMOs attract my attention I never tried any of them because I don't like to be almost forced to play all the time to avoid being left behind, I prefer to do it when I feel like it and have time, and with runescape 3 it seems to be the same case.
