Luigi’s mansion 3 review

Once again Luigi is scared of ghosts, he should not be scared after so many ghostly victories!

Luigi’s mansion 3 review

Introduction

We are going to look at another spooky game, it is time to hunt some ghosts in Luigi’s mansions 3. What is your goal in this game, well, off course it is time to save Mario, again. It is quite odd how they once again get lured to a haunted building, and ambushed by King boo, but that is the case, so you must suck up ghosts with your vacuum cleaner!

What did I think before playing Luigi's mansion 3?

Luigi’s mansion 3 is just another game where you suck up ghosts, it will never have the impact that the first game would have but, it is clear this game was going to be superior compared to the second game, especially in the graphics department. What I was looking forward to the most, was the co-op function in this game, the second player would control a fake Luigi name, Gooigi! For more information I went to the Nintendo page!

The Nintendo Page

You should think that by now, Luigi would not be afraid of ghosts anymore, he has seen it all in the previous two games. Did he just, forgot that ever happened or what? There seem to be a lot of hotel floors to explore in this game, and it did take us quite some time to find all the goodies in the hotel. Can you find everything in the hotel while sucking up ghosts? Or perhaps, you rather slam them into the ground?

Rating

I rate Luigi’s mansions 3 with an 8.6 before playing.
It is time, to hunt some scary ghosts in the basement!

Story

Well, the story is quite simple, Luigi and his pals get invited to a hotel, that is totally not suspicious at all. Then his friends get turned into paintings, again, and Luigi must save them from the same villain, again.

Rating

I rate the story of Luigi’s mansion 3 with a 3.4.
If you had told me this was Luigi’s mansion 1 if I have never played these game, I would believe you.

Gameplay

It is your goal to explore the haunted hotel to save your friends, and off course, find a boatload of money, wait, are you, Wario in disguise!? You rather hunt for treasure and kill ghosts than save your friends, well, if you are at it anyway, why don’t you collect every treasure that you come across? You can use the black light function to find hidden treasures, and you must poke every, little, thing, for treasures!

A great new addition is that most of the floors have a boss to take care off, these are not complicated at all, and it goes easier in co-op. For co-op, one of the players needs to be Gooigi, which is basically an ectoplasm doppelgänger that is immortal and can be resurrected! It is very fun to explore the haunted hotel together. But, off course, finding treasure is the most important thing, along the way, you can also suck up boo’s!

If you are not interested in the story mode, there are other fun modes that you can play with other friends. Like the mini-games or perhaps the scream park, everyone needs a break from exploring the haunted hotel now and then!

Rating

I rate the gameplay of Luigi’s mansion 3 with a 8.4.
Why is Luigi so obsessed with finding gold?

Sound and Graphics

Graphics

The graphics are quite amazing, as there are many different floors. I liked the disco floor the most, but there was also a floor that looked like a desert. I wonder how this all fits in one hotel. I liked the variety in the graphic assets used in this game. The boss ghosts look quite scare but it is not a game that is for adults only.

Sound

The soundtracks are awesome along with the sound effects, I do wonder why Luigi is scared though, he has been through this two times already. He should be used to ghosts by now.

Rating

I rate the sound and graphics of Luigi’s mansions 3 with a 9.3.
At least you have some pretty ghosts to look at!

What did I think after playing Luigi's mansion 3?

My wife and I had a great time when playing Luigi’s mansion 3, while the story is horrible, it has great gameplay mechanics, slamming ghosts make no sense at all, but, why not? The co-op mechanic is awesome, it allows for many options like parents playing with their children. However, it depends on their age, King Boo can be quite terrifying for smaller children.

It was fun to solve the many complicated puzzles of each floor. But, we were mostly looking for the goodies, more gold, more treasure! We managed to collect enough to get an A rank on the final screen. This hotel is not haunted, probably. Let’s hope, that in the next game, Luigi is less frightened, we get to see another antagonist, and no Mario at all. Just Luigi going to a haunted place like, it is time to suck up some ghosts!

I rate Luigi’s mansion 3 with an 8.8 after playing.
The controls can be complicated but once you get the hang of it, there is nothing to it, easy to play, and hard to master!

What are my personal thoughts about Luigi's mansion 3?

It was fun to see Luigi with these amazing graphics, but it bugged me a lot that he was scared again. I did enjoy the ghost dog, it was fun to see him barking around! Maybe they could make a game where Mario is a side character for co-op, but both of them are at different places in the mansion, and you need to meet up at the final boss.

Rating

My personal Rating of Luigi’s mansion 3 is a 7.4.
There were some flaws with this game, nonetheless, I enjoyed this game!

Pros

Cons

Gooigi is so slimy, he falls through grates, I wonder, does he have feelings? Or is he just, a slime without feelings? Slurp!

  6. Luigi Mansion just has a certain atmosphere, the bright characters contrasting with the dark shadows really works for it.

  7. Since Luigi is as much a mascot for Nintendo as Mario, it seems like they wouldn't want to develop his character too much so he becomes unrecognizable from the loveable coward he is portrayed as today, much like Disney keeping Mickey as a amiable everyman in most media he appears in. Still, I think Luigi is a bit more brave in this game, since he likes the dog ghost and isn't scared by it anymore, and if I remember correctly from the cutscenes I watched on Youtube, he really steps up to the final boss at the end. It's also nice you get to save others instead of just Mario in this game and that Luigi gets recognition for it; I'm a sucker for the overlooked one finally getting some love!
