Nexomon Custom Mode Review

Introduction

Today we are finally going to review Nexomon, I hear what you are saying but you already reviewed Nexomon Extinction!? This time we are going to look at the new game mode that the developers have made called custom mode. What is different compared with the normal mode of Nexomon Extinction? We are going to look at that in this review. I will not make a section for what I thought before Nexomon Custom mode as this is mostly the same as with the original review. You will find some elements from the original review in this review.

Story

The story starts with you being in an orphanage, you are one of the chosen few to become a Nexomon trainer to help the guild. The guild fights against the tyrants that are fighting each other to become the king of monsters.
Luckily, the guild has dragons to protect citizens from harm when the tyrants are attacking, as you set out to catch your first Nexomon in the woods together with one of your friends from the orphanage called Coco a dragon attacks you!
A mysterious figure saves you by handing you a Nexomon, this is the beginning of your epic tale as a Nexomon trainer.

Rating

I rate the story of Nexomon Extinction with a 10.
Not only is the humor amazing, but the story is also just, it is so good I don’t have words for it. There are so many unexpected plot twists and HOLY …… moments, somebody at Nintendo, Sony, or Microsoft please hire this guy and pay him millions to write stories for your games. I am not going to spoil any story related events but this is a game that you must play for the story.

Gameplay

We are not going to look at the normal gameplay of Nexomon Extinction. Instead, we are just going to take a look at what custom mode has to offer you. The major gameplay elements are still the same, if you are interested in the normal gameplay you can read the whole review of Nexomon Extinction right here: https://www.reviewsbysupersven.com/2021/01/23/nexomon-extinction-december-poll-review/

The custom mode can only be accessed after you have finished the main story. This means that you should already be accustomed to the normal gameplay of Nexomon Extinction. Before you start the custom mode you will need to decide what you want. If you want, you can simply make the custom mode a new game+ for yourself. In the end, the custom mode is hard to describe because it all comes down to your personal preference.

When you start a new custom mode run you will be faced with a wall of options to change the game in whatever way you see fit. Remove the level cap or even start with a high-level Nexomon! There are just too many options to name them all. If you are interested in all the different options you can watch the video below. This is episode 1 of our full playthrough on the Nexomon Custom mode. In episode 1 we show you all the options and even the seed to start with the legendary Vados Nexomon!

Rating

I rate the gameplay of Nexomon Extinction custom mode with an 8.8
I enjoyed the gameplay of the first standard run of Nexmon Extinction more. There are some problems in custom mode like finding the greed wallets or exp boosters. This is only a problem if you have randomized the items.

Sound and Graphics

Graphics

The graphics are very well crafted and the characters also have emotion bubbles which are fun to look at, the Nexomon looks cute and sometimes scary. Luckily there is no Nexomon that will suck your soul when you look at its back, yes, I am looking at you Shedinja! Man, that Pokémon gave me nightmares when I was a kid. The world in Nexomon looks very finetuned but there are a few minor flaws like a crystal that you can walk into but nothing major.
Before big battles, you will see a painting-like picture, these pictures must have cost a lot of time to make!

Sound

The soundtracks are also well crafted and you are going to get an earworm if you are going to catch all Nexomon, the sound effects are great but sometimes the audio skips a little beat.

Rating

I rate the sound and graphics with a 9.9
Even though there are some minor flaws, I will still rate the sound and graphics with a 9.9, can you imagine making 381 Nexomon and giving them different attributes, sounds, and more? This game was made by a small team and not a giant company, this is shown by the amazing story and dedication that they put into this game.

What did I think after playing Nexomon Extinction Custom mode?

I had a lot of fun when playing Custom mode but I had less fun than when I played the original version of Nexomon Extinction. I also did not see it happening that I would once again catch all of the Nexomon, I was rather glad when we managed to reach the ending. For the most fun, I would wait longer between playing the original mode and custom mode.
I did like it very much that we started with the legendary Vados, this was very unexpected. Even though I would recommend playing custom mode if you enjoyed the normal game.

My biggest problem was that we barely found any useful items this time around but mostly junk in the large chests. It was also insanely hard to make synergy cores but some of the mining rocks gave synergy cores. There was one rock that even gave infinite golden nexotraps! When some time has passed I will most likely play custom mode once again! The next time around I will choose a lot of different options!

Rating

I rate Nexomon extinction custom mode with an 8.8 after playing.
I did enjoy custom mode very much but I did not feel like catching all Nexomon again. you do have a higher chance of catching legendary Nexomon though.

What are my personal thoughts about Nexomon Extinction Custom Mode?

I had a lot of fun when playing custom mode, mostly due to getting the legendary Nexomon called Vados. I think it would have been even more fun if we had to play the game with a low-tier Nexomon.Custom mode was also very easy once you get your main Nexomon to a higher level.

Personal rating

my personal rating of Nexomon Extinction Custom Mode is an 8.2
I enjoyed the main game without custom settings more. I think randomizers work better in games like Bloodstained Ritual of the Night or Metroid games.
