Top 10 Favorite Retro reviews on Reviews by Supersven

Introduction

Today, we have a list of the top 10 retro reviews that we enjoyed the most! We will not be looking at the final rating, but rather how much fun we had when we were making the review! The retro games included here are from the retro category and on all kinds of old consoles, these reviews can all be found on Reviews by Supersven! There will be YouTube videos from our channel  except for Super Mario World! Let us go over the rules for this list!

Rules

1 All candidates must be on Reviews by Supersven in the Retro section
2 Perfect games are disqualified as well, otherwise, these would automatically take up spots.
3 Dead or offline games are disqualified.
4 Modded and fan games are allowed.

10: Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time

The first game that has made it on this list is a favorite of many people, Legend of Zelda, Ocarina of Time. Why would I grant this favorite game a spot on number ten instead of one?  I grew up into the Legend of Zelda series later on, despite playing some originals. I have a lot more fond memories of games like Pikmin 1 and Turok!

Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time is a great game that truly deserves a next-gen remake on the Nintendo Switch. Both my wife and I also hate the water temple, even if you know the solution! Oh, no, these iron boots are heavy, it makes me sink to the bottom of the water! Give me a second while I put the iron boots in my backpack, so I won’t sink to the bottom anymore!!

9: Animal Forest

Animal Forest is on the ninth spot, a game that I have played when I was very young, alas I could not read Japanese thus I had to wait for the Gamecube version of this game! Animal Crossing became widely popular with the second release of their game in Europe and America but not many people know that this was actually the second release of the game!

The first game dubbed Animal Forest is a Japan only game, but for a review I found a version with the important things translated to English. The video is quite bad, though, since it was before we had better equipment! Nonetheless, we had a great time tracking down this game and playing it!

8: Super Mario 64 Switch Port

On the eight spot, we find a game that has most likely the worst camera controls ever. Super Mario 64 might have terrible camera controls, but Nintendo needed this experience for better camera control in the future! I dislike that sound though of the camera not turning!

I myself enjoyed this game quite much, as I grew up with the Nintendo 64. My wife however dislikes struggling with the camera a lot, she rather hands me the controller! She loves the camera in Super Mario Galaxy!

7: Kuru Kuru Kururin

A recently reviewed Retro game has made this list! kuru Kuru Kururin has spun his twirly spaceship/helicopter into the seventh slot! Do you have the patience to wriggle your spaceship/helicopter through small passages!

This game might be even more difficult than some Souls-Like games we have encountered so far on Reviews by Supersven due to the fact that you need to complete all the levels without getting hit! There are also fun decorations to gather in the levels. This game was very innovative for when it released on the Game Boy Advance back in year 2001.

6: Super Mario World

For the sixth slot, we have another Super Mario game, Super Mario World. Visit Dinosaur Island and defeat all the Koopalings! This SNES game was a huge and has spawned a huge array of fan made games!

There is even co-op in this game which was something not seen quite often in the SNES game. I always have dibs on Luigi, though! Fun tidbit, did you know my parents almost named me Luigi? That is because my brother is called Mario?

5: E.V.O The Search for Eden

Read our review on E.V.O The Search for Eden!

We are already halfway down the list, we have reached a new retro era. The Devonian era filled with fish, where some fish will evolve into dinosaurs! Although in this game, you slowly advance into new eras as your wannabe dinosaur keeps changing shape!

We played this game by both using one half of the keyboard, and we actually completed the game! We want to re-do the video soon though with better sound quality! If you are looking for a game that is similar to Spore, then this might be a game for you to check out!

4: Turok 1 Remastered

A classic game that I have completed many times over the years, Turok 1 has landed on the fourth spot of this list. In the last list entry you were a dinosaur, now you hunt them down with explosive arrows!

This game was very innovative for the Nintendo 64 as 3D graphics barely existed at this point in time but Turok already showed great promises on what could be, the graphics were gorgeous for the Nintendo64 era! Did you know this game was one of my first reviews? Hence, no pictures.

3: Pikmin 1

Pikmin 1 was one of the first games that I played when I purchased the Gamecube. It is also where my fascination with Bulborbs started! I do not know if it is horrible to laugh every time the Pikmin die and their souls float up to heaven.

Even though Pikmin 1 had some questionable choices for young players, it is still an amazing strategy game that deserves the third spot in the Retro list!

2: Castlevania: Symphony of the Night

Meet the game that has earned the second spot in the Retro list! Symphony of the Night! This game has it all, great RPG elements with equipment to be found, grinding for items and more! What sets this game apart from the others, though, is the perfectly created soundtracks!

Both my wife and I like Casstlevania games due to the heavy amount of exploration that is needed ro 100% this game. Whenever you gain new skills, you can backtrack in Dracula’s huge castle, do not forget about the second castle that is inverted!

1: Serious Duke 3D

Number one and true winner in this retro list is a 3D re-imaging of Duke Nukem called Serious Duke 3D  Staying very close to the orignal  Duke Nukem 3D with updated graphics. However, to play this amazing game, you will need to own Serious Sam 3 BFE. on Steam, One thing is clear of course, the Duke Nukem is the King of the Retro List!

We had a lot of fun with this game and made a complete walkthrough of Serious Duke 3D, I hope new episodes will be made and released! Hail to the king, baby!
